We also developed a user manual on CANDy for the clinicians who are beginners. This manual contains the assessment points and examples of a conversation with older people. Moreover, it is also useful to the practice to promote the understanding of symptoms of dementia.
Caution and consent
Although CANDy is a useful screening test to detect people with dementia, a high score is not always indicative that a person has dementia. Moreover, examiners are required to have the adequate knowledge of medicine and psychology in using this test. An examiner must not assume immediately that an older adult is suffering from dementia by only seeing the test score.
